Creek Safe
A New Level Of Safety For Our Kids
Our Mission
After the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, Beavercreek City Schools held a safety meeting in April 2018 to inform parents of security measures and safety guidelines already in place in the school. A small group of parents asked "What can we do to help you keep our kids safe?" And with that an idea was born. Creek Safe is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing safety measures in our schools. Of course, there is a cost to providing additional security. With our organization raising money for this cause, Beavercreek City Schools can focus funding on other areas.
With your help & Donations We've Accomplished:
- Our first fundraising event was held on June 5, 2018. By December 23, 2020, we raised over $128,000.00 to buy 723 Anchorman Door Locks to cover each classroom, preschool through high school, in the Beavercreek City School district.
- Jeff Bell and the team at BellBrook Fence donated the installation of all locks, a donation we couldn’t even begin to quantify.
- Since install, Creek Safe shares the responsibility of cleaning and maintaining the locks several times a year with the Beavercreek City Schools maintenance staff.
- We have helped with training staff, volunteers, and substitutes in the buildings by attending staff and safety meetings.
- We raised enough money to buy an Anchorman door lock key for each Beavercreek Police cruiser, Greene County Sherriff vehicle, and Beavercreek Fire Department truck and captain’s vehicles along with ambulances. These keys are now part of their regular supplies. An increase in the access to these specially designed keys ensures all our first responders will be equipped to assist.
What's Creek Safe Up To Next?
Beavercreek City Schools has asked us to partner with us to raise funds to purchase 3M Safety and Security Window Film for high profile glass in the schools. This specialized product makes glass bullet resistant. Beavercreek City Schools has already purchased and installed this film in their highest priority areas so we are joining them for Phase 2 of the project. Phase 2 is expected to cost $88,227.00. The total for each age level is:
- Pre-K/Elementary: $40,773 ($10.76 per student)
- Middle School: $18,492 ($10.55 per student)
- Ferguson/HS: $28,962 ($12.56 per student)
Beavercreek City Schools has also expressed the need for “Stop The Bleed Bags” in multiple areas of each school. These bags provide quick first aid to provide the necessities to provide emergency treatment until first responders arrive. The total price for this project is $7,580.
